MY DEAR, MY DEAR, IT IS NOT SO DREADFUL HERE. Diana had been in town for almost a month now, and already she didn’t like what she was seeing. Supernatural ran around the place with no one to go after them. Sure she had run into a few hunters, one of them being an old friend from her troubling days in the past. Passing through Sleepy Hollow had been her idea of a place to live after she lost the baby and her husband. Maybe it was because it was somewhere close to home but not, or maybe it was because it seemed like an ideal place to live. But she was wrong, so wrong. She doomed her stepdaughter's life by stepping foot in the little town. And now, they would all pay. Thankful for the lessons that her father taught her and her twin brother in order to prepare them for the life of a Mafia Boss and Wife, she was able to avenge her stepdaughter's death and take out her anger. And thus, she became a hunter. A thing that supernatural creatures feared, well for the most part. She swallowed the cotton ball feeling within her dry through, her eyes wandering over the load of cop cars that had gathered around a scene of a dead body, her eyes watching them closely. She had been driving through and had stumbled upon the scene and the cops, but sadly she couldn’t get past the tape that blocked everything off, but from what she heard all the police talking about was that the woman was currently a Jane Doe and the cause of death was drained of blood, which baffled them. When she had heard the confusion of the police about the cause of death she had almost laughed, sure they were naïve about the world of the supernatural, but Diana wasn’t. This death was definitely a vampire attack, one that had been recent, which means that the vampire was still about, warmed from the blood it had consumed. She had gone back to her car to just think, watching carefully to make sure that the police had left and it seemed like they weren’t, so with quick fingers she reached over into the glove compartment and grabbed her 9mm pistol, one that she kept tucked under some of the paperwork that she had stashed in there. Sure it may be a vampire that she was hunting, but if she could shoot it enough she could grab her stake that she had tucked away in a secret pocket within her jacket and stake the sucker until he was dead, for real this time. Quickly she slipped from the seat of her black car, the leather seats comfort disappearing from beneath her as her feet tapped against the dark grey pavement. With quick feet, she slipped through the darkness, underneath some of the police tapes, and stealthy making her way through the throng of trees, eyes trying to adjust to the slightly darker area around her. She had the gun in her hand, ready to fire when needed. Her feet crunched against the ground, she wasn’t one to stay stealthy for long, hoping to lure the vampire out with the sounds of the twigs snapping beneath her feet. As she got deeper into the dark woods, the sound of her movement was more apparent around her due to the silence of the swaying trees. The sound of twigs snapping filled her ears, and she kept quiet until the sound was behind her and out of instinct she spun around and fired her gun. i got pride you can't hold your breath. we'll crash down like an avalanche. look out now, don't take one more step.
the crane family had this hunting routine down to a tee. they followed obituaries, random flares of phenomena and news headlines in the papers. some of the odd stories ended up being nothing but when the peculiar was involved, it was generally something supernatural. when they caught a whiff of something, off they went, tailing whatever it was that happened to be the culprit. spending more than a week in the same shitty hotel was a rare occurrence, instead moving around as deemed necessary.
sleepy hollow had proven to be an entirely different story, though. for a pretty lengthy period of time in his youth, jax and his siblings had called it home. living with their 'uncle' cameron, they had found some comfort in the small town life. even after moving away, he returned once more to date and later engage his high school sweetheart. for some time, he truly thought he was going to live out his days in sleepy hollow, with chloe van tassel as his wife. that delusion of his came to a screeching halt when his sister was attacked by a vampire. it made him see the reality of his situation: that he could never let people close to him. those who were always ended up hurt.
after a letter from chloe, not more than a few weeks ago, jax didn't see much choice other than to return to sleepy hollow. sure, each town had their share of things that went bump in the night but it was the gravity of her penned words that drew him back here. rumors had flew of a demonic horseman, one like from a tale he'd read as a book. it was only as matty did research that he realized they were a relative of the real ichabod crane. the connection had never occurred to him, partially because he thought irving's book was fiction. little did he know, he would be the chosen one to defeat the creature.
luckily enough for jackson, he had painted himself as a private investigator new to the area, even having a falsified p.i. license to back the story up. it allowed him access to crime scenes where necessary, though the local authorities were not too keen on his poking around. the whispers of a dead body in town alerted jax and matthew, causing them to jump to action. when they arrived, the two parted ways; jackson headed for the woods behind the crime scene while matthew stayed to try to get info from the cops.
staking a vampire was the easiest method of taking one down but carrying a piece of wood around was neither convenient nor inconspicuous. therefore, he relied on the wood bullets in his gun. they wouldn't kill but would splinter off in a vampire's body to cause a great deal of pain. it was enough to cripple one so he could get to it in time to take the head off with the lengthy blade that hung on his belt.
as he meandered through the woods, jax shown his flashlight on the ground periodically, following the hurried footsteps imprinted in the snow. and finally, he broke into a small clearing, his light and gun shining upon a face he found familiar. he lowered his weapon, jaw rotating in agitation at the girl. yes, a girl...she was hardly old enough to be out here hunting. "diana." he muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose. "go home before you get hurt. i need to catch this damn bloodsucker." he hissed through the darkness, though had some serious doubts she'd flee. he'd met her only one other time, on another case, and their interaction was similar. only in that matter, matty had gotten to the demon before either of them. "you're going to get yourself killed. go!"

MY DEAR, MY DEAR, IT IS NOT SO DREADFUL HERE. ‘Diana. Go home before you get hurt. I need to catch this damn bloodsucker.’The familiar voice filled the surrounding area around them and she narrowed her eyes, she had only had a run in with the man before, and while he was older than her it didn’t mean he wasn’t any better. She was trained, sure not as a hunter but as a member of the mafia. She was skilled in combat, weapons and how to bandage herself if she were to get hurt. While her brother had more training, due to his inheritance to their family, but she was trained due to her arranged marriage to the mafia boss son of another family. She swallowed at the thought of it, at the time she had no choice and would have done anything for her father, but now that she had found love, she never wanted to go back to an arrangement ever again. “Well too bad for you because I need to catch the vamp.” she hissed out annoyed but his sudden pushing to send her away. She wasn’t surprised, Jackson had tried to push her away last time and she refused to leave, they were hunting the same thing and she was determined to end the creature’s life. It wasn’t for her, but for her step-daughter that had perished at the vampire’s hands. She wanted them all dead, and that would happen if she died in the attempt to complete her task. As Jackson quickly told her that she would get herself killed and wanted her to leave, she huffed out her breath and rolled her eyes. The gun in her hand felt heavy, but she refused to take note of it. “I am not leaving.” she hissed out once more. “So you can either have me on your side and we take this creature out together, or you can fucking get over yourself and deal with my constant refusal of your words.” she added in an annoyed tone. Last time they had gotten in this discussion, or rather fight, when they first met they both hadn’t had the chance to kill the creature, Jackson’s own brother had beaten him to it. She just hoped, this time, she was the one that got the creatures life in her hand, not Jackson nor Matthew. “So move out of my way.” MADE BY VEL OF GS [googlefont=Alegreya Sans SC:400]

i got pride you can't hold your breath. we'll crash down like an avalanche. look out now, don't take one more step.
the basis for his agitation with the young woman was not founded from sexism or chauvinistic tendencies. he was a manwhore but hew as by no means someone who disrespected women. instead, he viewed each of them as delicate people, who could have made a better life for themselves elsewhere. the hunting lifestyle was hard and lonely. it broke a person down and it wasn't something he would wished upon anyone, especially someone who had so many years of potential ahead of her. in part, too, he was always reminded of alexandra in situations like this. her life was over and it left him scrambling to fix what was wrong with her. while that wasn't the case for the woman in front of him, he saw how easily it could be. simply put, he just didn't want to see any m ore innocent people hurt.
"you need to go home and forget this kinda shit exists out here." he barked at her, more an order than anything, though he knew better than to think she would listen. honestly, she reminded him more of his sister than he would have liked to admit. "don't you have somethin' else to be doing? school, work, a boyfriend? c'mon, don't waste your time on this lifestyle. go home." jax spoke through gritted teeth, hissing through the night as he tried to avoid being overheard. it would be useless, however. if the vampire they were tracking was withing a few hundred feet, it's hearing would have already picked up on the hunters.
"you're lucky you're a lady...or i'd shoot you in the leg." it sounded god-awful but he'd done it once to his own brother...shot him to keep him from following into a dangerous situation. mind you, it was just a graze to the calf but it was enough to hold him over for a good twenty minutes. jackson still hadn't lived that one down.
after listening to her argument for a few moment, he realized they were only wasting time. the longer they stood and argued, the further away the lightning-quick vampire was going to get. they needed to act and they needed to act now. though giving in wasn't an ideal situation, he did't see may other options at the given moment. "fine." he finally sneered, jaw rotating in clear agitation. "but i'm leading. you stay behind me and if there's any trouble, you get out." they were the very same orders he often gave matty, knowing his own life was more expendable than whoever he had backing up. it wasn't the kill he cared about...she could take care of that if she really wanted, but only if the situation was safe. while he'd never admit it, it was smarter to hunt in two. plus, deep down, a part of him silently commended her strong will.
