let's be honest, i promise i'm never looking back for my sake for the last few days, arwen had walked past the occult shop more times than she could count. as far as she knew, there wasn't anyone specifically looking for her inside but she felt as though it might have been a good spot to start. all she was told was to go to sleepy hollow for answers. well, now she was here and she was more confused than she had been prior to leaving her home. perhaps she should have stayed in new orleans after all. at least there, she could fall into her routine of normalcy in the book shop. it was boring and simple but it was normal.
but there was something other than curiosity that drove the young woman to a place so far away from her home. she was running, though that was something she'd never admit. it wasn't monsters or danger that drove her away from the southern state, but instead, her past. she wanted nothing to do with it, having been broken and torn down until she was unrecognizable. whoever had created the idea of karma had clearly never met a person such as arwen. a more deserving person of a happy life could not be found and yet, she'd lived through more miseries than any other person she'd met.
since stepping off the bus three days ago, arwen found herself at a bit of a set back. she had no home, no car, and no information other than the instruction to come here for help. but help with what? she knew what the woman meant...help with her powers. but the wiccan wasn't sure she wanted help with that, unless that help meant taking them away forever. her powers had killed her mother and put her in foster care, then later a psychiatric ward. it was there she had grown up, all because she was some freak of nature...which she certainly did not willingly choose to be. she cursed the powers on a regular basis but even despite her denial, there was some sliver of her that was curious as to what could happen.
having had little human interaction most of her life, except for doctors and therapists, it was safe to say that arwen never truly learned how to come out of her shell. it was her shyness which prevented her from walking up the magic shop's step and announcing her arrival. what was she even supposed to say? there were no words she could come up with and additionally, no words she wanted to willingly admit aloud to herself. doing so would confirm she was indeed the freak she'd been labeled as since she was a child.
deciding today was, again, not the day, the girl turned away from the front of the shop, heading back down the sidewalk. even in her coat she shivered in the crisp winter air, having been used to much warmer temperatures down south. she avoided her destiny by meandering along the path that ran parallel to the harbor. it reminded her of home in some aspects, she supposed, having always lived near a body of water. orleans had a much greater port than sleepy hollow's meager one but she found it cute. in fact, the entire village seemed to suit her better. it was so small and spread out that she didn't have to worry about the bouts of tourists. yes, here her shy self could be happy and her anxiety didn't flare up.
her serenity was short lived, however, as she caught herself on a patch of black ice that layered the wood planks. whereas a normal person would have just fallen, arwen's untamed abilities instead kicked in. like some defense mode that flared with her emotions, she caused a spark to ignite. on accident, she set her coat on fire, causing her to panic even more as she tried to put it out. in a tizzy, she picked up some snow off the ground, rubbing it on her coat until the fire was out. why? why did this always have to happen to her.
the young woman bit into her lip sharply to keep the tears from coming but it was no use. she sobbed quietly, muttering under her breath about how out of control she felt. she had no idea why this was happening to her or how to fix it. she was just lost.

Evalyn, Meeting, ARWEN BLACKWOOD lyrics @ Lana Del Rey. notes – This sucks <3 words - 670ish
In the Land of Gods and Monsters I was an Angel
Evalyn didn’t grow tired of the busy Virginia as it always had something or someone that Evalyn could take advantage of. For years, Evalyn has been stealing identities and making someone else’s life her own, and in the end no one can stop if you don’t know what she looks like, for sure. Evalyn has had her own dark past that she is reminded off every day as a brand mark on her arm, Nazi Germany taking over Poland took over the life of Evalyn Przetrwac. She is a born demon-shifter, so being what she was allowed her to escape the torments of the Nazis before she would even gain their attention. Although, being what she was brought danger to other people because she is just not a shifter, but a demon and she gained predatory instincts that gives her the need to survive.
The true form of Evalyn is blue skin, with glowing yellow eyes, and blood red hair, which is why she never shifts into her true form unless she has to. Being able to shapeshift makes it harder for people or demons to find her because she can take on the form of any human or demon as well as develop the voice and scent of the human/demon she takes over. The perfect camouflage that has proved to have her undetectable and noticeable, though if anyone was looking for Evalyn, it would be a long and windy search because the real Evalyn died in Poland.
Evalyn now takes refuge in Virginia, basically living the life of a con-artist, killing people than taking over their life. Although, she also works for people as she is a demon who can be summoned or bound, and periodically someone summons for a demon-shifter, though usually the job description of a shifter is to spy on people or to assassinate, depends on the day for Evalyn.
Today, Evalyn was in her usually meatsuit of a blonde haired, blue-eyed woman, and she casually walked the silent, dark streets of Virginia. Tonight, she was looking for someone to prey on, usually she likes to take on big business men or women because that’s where the money was, although she preys on the less fortunate people as well. She is not someone to trust, matter of fact, no demon you can truly trust because Evalyn is a wildcard and you will never know what she will truly say or do. Evalyn found herself walking onto the boardwalk of the beach, her eyes on the hunt for people who look well-off, though tonight the beach was pretty silent. Usually people frequent the beach day and night, so it surprised her that nobody was there, and she was about to turn around until she saw a young woman walking down the boardwalk as well.
Evalyn continued down the path to catch up with the girl, walking silently behind her, Eva’s blue eyes were now her demonic yellow to see better in the night. She could see that she was alone, but something was off about her, though Eva couldn’t put her thoughts onto what it was about the young girl. Although, her suspicions were proven right when she witnessed the girl step onto black ice, and should have fallen, but a spark of flames saved her fall. A smile spreads across the demon’s lips as she came behind the young girl,” You have quite the power, what are you? A Wiccan? Im just taking a wild guess.” Quickly, as soon as the girl turned around, Evalyn would shift into exactly what the young girl looks like,” You’re not the only one, darling.”

let's be honest, i promise i'm never looking back for my sake other than the very nice couple at the inn where she was staying and the few places she'd gone to get food, arwen hadn't talked to much of anyone. frankly, she didn't feel she had any need or desire to. she didn't go out of her way to be an antisocial creature but instead, her social anxiety and shyness got the best of her. it was those characteristics of hers which make working in a book store a good profession to her. things were often quiet and she was able to sort through books without much interruption. frankly, she could have gone her entire stay in sleepy hollow without talking to a single being, if she really had her way. then again, that would completely defeat the purpose of traveling thousands of miles to find some answers.
when it came to the rest of the supernatural world, the wiccan was fairly naive. she barely wanted to believe her own powers, let alone the existence of something else out there. when it came to demons or vampires, she was completely unaware of their place in this world. to think of anything like that was just a terrifying ideal to her. magic and unnatural things were what put her away for her entire life. why would she possibly want to explore that further? then again, she had still come upon the recommendation that she learn how to control her abilities. while a majority of the desire to do that was focused around suppressing them, she had to admit that a sliver of her was curious. irregardless, she was convinced she'd never truly embrace what she was. the idea of that was terrifying.
did arwen think she could protect herself? no. if a stranger came to attack her, she figured she'd fall prey to them, though she still had no fears about wandering around the small new york village alone. she contradicted herself slightly, however, with that thought. while she looked in the mere and saw a small, fragile young woman, she also thought of herself as a monster. with fire at her fingertips, there was no telling what she would do, therefore making her a danger when her emotions ran wild. again, just another reason it was better for her to be alone. it was safer that way.
without any warning, however, someone had snuck up behind her. she jumped a bit at the voice that called out to her, struggling with her inner self to keep flames from igniting at her fingertips. it was so random and sporadic that often, she had no idea when they were going to come into play. then again, the idea of her resistant body set into her mind. if anyone tried to hurt her, she would be unharmed and instead, her assailant would suffer the effects.
"no, i'm not anything. i'm no one." she muttered, trying to deny what she'd just done with her own hands and mind. she was in her denial about her own abilities...it wasn't like she was going to admit them to someone else. by the time her wet gaze glanced up at the woman's voice horror had been expressed there. she righted herself only to stumble backwards at the sight of...her own face. only she shouldn't have been looking at it one someone else. "stop! you stop that!" arwen cried, the fear in her voice evident. if this was the kind of secrets this town had in store for her, she wasn't interested. "why are you doing that?" what she really wanted to ask was how but part of her just wanted to run.

Evalyn, Meeting, ARWEN BLACKWOOD lyrics @ Lana Del Rey. notes – <3 words - 800ish
In the Land of Gods and Monsters I was an Angel
Evalyn smiled at the young girl as she stood looking like just like her, long brunette hair, fair skinned, and quite short. Honestly, Eve probably wouldn’t have taken this form as a permanent form because it’s not like the blonde girl she has taken as her own identity, she was much taller than this girl, though they are both beautiful people, but height means a lot to the demon shifter because she doesn’t want to struggle to reach for anything. Eva only chuckled at the Wiccan because obviously she was in denial about her like, though Eva could understand why she would be scared of herself. When Evalyn was younger, she was a total freak, she didn’t know why, she didn’t know why she was blue skinned, yellow-eyed, with red hair, and she didn’t know why her family kept calling her a monster, though she soon believed it. For a moment, Eva began to empathize with the girl, she didn’t choose to be supernatural, the universe and who your parents are can be a cruel combination. Although, Eva remember who she was and carried on not caring about her feelings that aren’t her own.
Eva titled her head as she looked at the Wiccan as if she said something dumb, though she ignoring what you are is kind of dumb since you’ll do more harm than good. Although, that’s known of her business to give time to work on. Eve rolled her eyes at the wiccan,” You have to be someone for me to turn into you, obviously,” Eve said with a wicked smile, her eyes turning from the brown of the wiccan to her natural glowing yellow eyes with black slits,” I am someone, I can be many people, you are someone, and that someone has something unique,” Eva said as she walked a bit closer to the wiccan,” I love uniqueness, what about you? Do you like uniqueness?” Eve was just edging the Wiccan on, she could guess the wiccan was uncomfortable, though it was merely entertainment for Eve. Although, if the wiccan was a nobody, then what does Eve have anything to do with her? More than likely, probably nothing more than to torment her until she watches over shoulder every given minute or maybe steal her credit card and destroy her credit.
Eva changed her eyes back to the color of the Wiccan, blinking a few times to get used to them, before her wicked smile returns. Eve began to circle the mortal, moving very slowly as she took in the rest of the mortal, which gives the demon enough information about the girl, especially the type of clothes she wears, whether it was a name brand or not is very important. If she was dressed in name brands head to toe, better believe this demon shifter will be snagging her credit card, or pretty much the entire wallet. “Stop what? Being me?” Evalyn said with an amused chuckle, truly she was amused by the Wiccan, although Eve is careful on not getting too close to the girl, not just after seeing those flames. Eve doesn’t know how fire retardant she is, or if she is at all. “ I won’t stop, I won’t ever stop,” Eve said as she spoke in the same voice of the girl, which is a handy skill for being a shifter because its one thing to look like a person, sounding like one is an added perk. “I learned to love what am, and what I can do, so why spoil my talents?”
Eva ran a hand through her now brown hair, feeling its texture and was satisfied to feel the softness of the wiccan’s hair, “Beautiful hair, almost as good as my current body, though, you might want to try a different conditioner,” Eva continued as she examined the tips of the Wiccan’s hair, “Oh, and you have split ends, you might want to take care of that.” Eve said with a smile as she turned the Wiccan’s way,” Its always that question I am asked,” Evalyn mocked in a whiney voice,” Why are you doing this….Why are you doing this to me, and etc.” Eva said as she walked closer to the Wiccan, though she was ready to move away at any time,” The answer is simple little girl, its because I can, and will you be the one to stop me?” Eva continued,” I haven’t done anything wrong; though I don’t know why shifting into you would be a problem.”

let's be honest, i promise i'm never looking back for my sake many times she had looked at herself reflection and seen a monster. in the psych ward, they were not allowed mirrors for fear they would be broken as used dangerously. but each time she caught a glimpse of herself in her dinner tray or the reflective surface of a window or clock, she was terrified of what she saw. while others saw a cute, innocent young girl, arwen gazed upon a terrifying monster. she had killed and hurt people without ever meaning to and she knew if she was unleashed on the world, it would only get worse. but this was reality. here and now, she was gazing upon a true reflection of herself, taken on by another. and the 3-D version of it was much more haunting than that in the mirror. "its not funny!" she blurted out as the wiccan chuckled at her. how was this amusing? it was her naivety which was her extreme downfall. the girl didn't understand that some people just liked to taunt others.
arwen was flustered by the time the woman spoke again by mocking her. she felt her fingers curl into a fist and she struggled with every ounce of her being to keep her powers from erupting. sometimes, though, it seemed as if no matter how hard she tried, there was no containing them. "i'm not worthy of a stolen identity. why don't you go find someone else to bother." she tried to sound tough but instead, her voice was barely above a squeak. she shook her head, dark locks falling over her face as she still considered running. "no, i'm not unique. i never wanted to be. i want to be normal." most people had desires in their life to stand out against the crowd. arwen was the opposite. she wanted to blend in, without causing any problems.
the girl held herself in her own arms, both shivering against the cold and the worry of what was going to happen. if she was smart, she would send the face-stealing woman a message with her powers...but she was neither malicious enough for that nor new how to properly access them. "stop being so cruel. i've done nothing to you. i want to be left alone." she said through gritted teeth though in reality, she was probably fueling the fire. "you're a monster." she muttered, trying to keep her gaze off the woman. she closed her eyes, foolishly, to try to escape the image. a part of her had hoped when she opened them, the woman would be gone..like some vanishing mirage. she was wrong though, especially when the very same voice called out to her.
there came a point when fear and anger converged, making her feel like a trapped animal. the circling and taunting of the woman was getting too much for her. it felt like she was back at the psychiatric hospital, being questioned by doctor after doctor. finally, she could take it no more. she sunk to the ground in a crouching position, closing her eyes tightly as she covered her ears. yet she could still hear the demon. without warning, her impulse control had gone out the window, causing flames to erupt around her. it was just a small circle of hot blue flames, but it encased her, up to her knees, keeping her safe from any harm that would come to her. and if the woman were to get close again, surely they would lick her. feeling the heat, she stood carefully, glaring across the ring of fire. "i said stop." she emitted, feeling slightly safer. still, the face-stealing bothered her greatly.
